You may also want to consider Phantom Centaur, as it's simply a great creature, in all aspects (unless the opponent has a Desert), which should fit in better than the Colossus as you won't usually have the resouces to pump him up (telling you this from expirience).

the reasons you should consider the Sword over the Cloak are that the sword isn't lost of the creature is killed, it gives two protections (which are great combained with the 2nd sword) and it also lets you recycle dead creatures (such as Finks or Fanatic).
